Mihail Alekseevich Kulakov (born in 1933) is Muscovite, graduated from the Leningrad Institution of theater, music and cinema in 1962, where he studied on the faculty of production under the direction of Akimov. Later Kulakov worked in the theater and as a book-graphic. When he started to paint, he demonstrated his works at the “apartment exhibitions” at the end of 1950. He joined the circle of Moscow and Leningrad nonconformists. Critics call him the successor of Russian school of non-figurative art. The most important for him – problems of coordination between color, shape, sound, space and motion. In 1976 Kulakov moved to Italy where he leaves and works now in the “homestead Taganrog” between hills of Umbria. The exposition includes 70 works from Italy and items from the funds of the Tretyakov gallery and private collections.
