Krymsky Val, 10, halls # 18–19
The jubilee exhibition of Alexander Deineka (1899–1969), the leader of the Society of Easel Painters and one of the best Soviet artists, is a prologue of the large-scale project of the State Tretyakov Gallery in 2010.
The Kursk State Picture Gallery has the largest collection of Deineka.
On the exhibition 150 graphic sheets are represented from 1920s to 1960s. That allows us to see the development of his talent and skill, including studying at the All-Russia Art and Technology Workshops in Moscow. Drawings made during the World War II, on business trips to Sevastopol and the USA, France and Italy are represented as well. Studies for paintings and mosaics, sketches, drawings show the brilliant skill and the stylistic and genre range of the artist’s painting.
During the opening of the exhibition the presentation of the book “Deineka. Graphic works” will take place. It is published by the company “Interros” according to the Interros Publishing Program to the 110th anniversary of the artist and according to the joint project of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Interros Publishing Program: “Alexander Deineka. Researches, books, exhibitions”. The project includes a number of exhibitions and publications about Deineka’s painting, monumental art and sculpture.
