On the exhibition are shown the products created by artists on their trips across Russia and abroad from the end of a XVIIIth century till 1920th years. Travels were made fixing views, as a part of expeditions, Russian diplomatic missions, in retinue of members of an imperial family. Many authors traveled during the stay time abroad as pensioners of Academy of arts, and after theirselves visited country of Western Europe and the East.
Among approximately 400 exhibits – little-known works of K.I.Rabusa made in 1820-1830, V.I.Surikov’s the water colours, the painter had reflected trips to Italy and Spain, sheets from «Travel to India» A.I.Kravchenko, and also travelling sketches of K.P.Brjullov, I.E.Repin, V.D.Polenov, A.N.Benua, V.A.Serov, A.P.Ostroumova-Lebedeva. Special blocks are devoted to Maxim Vorobev’s drawing made in 1820th years on travel with .Dashkov's diplomatic mission to the Holy Land, and also fragments of a Turkestan’s series of V.V.Vereschagin will also be exhibited.
