PAINTERS OF RUSSIAN ABROAD. MARIANNA von WEREFKIN

Anniversary retrospective show to the 150 anniversary of the Russian-swiss artist who passed from traditions Realism (Ilya Repin was her master) to impressionism, then – to an expressionism. Being a protégé of Javlensky, Marianne Vladimirovna Werefkin (1860–1938), became a friend of Vasily Kandinsky. After working with Repin and the beginning of teamwork  with Alexey Javlensky in Petersburg in 1896 has moved with hm to Munich, where she was among founders of "the New society of artists". Since 1914 lived in Switzerland where the great collection of her works is stored in the Municipal museum of the modern art the cities of Askona (canton Ticino). About 50 paints and 20 albums of the most valuable sketches by Werefkin added by autobiographical documents, including a diary of 1901-1906 will be represented at the exhibition. Creativity of the artist will be presented in accopmpany with classical cloths of its predecessors and contemporaries – teachers, friends, adherents – from Tretyakov gallery collection.
