Museums at Night
Department of arthopaedics and aesthetical traumatology.

The idea of Sanatorium was prompted by the conditions of the place: the lobby of the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val decorated with the pot plants resembles the “flora kingdom” in Soviet health resorts and clinics. In this way an art museum becomes similar to a health-improving institution where visitors can get rid of or make themselves secure against all kinds of illnesses.

Allegory of contemporary art
Such a sanatorium kind of the museum fully corresponds the needs of the Russian audience that is very exacting towards the art works which should enlighten, teach, ennoble, cultivate almost remove an evil curse put by the surrounding world. Such didactic requests often lead to misunderstandings in cases when the audience faces the works of contemporary art. That is when complaints about illnesses and injuries and in some cases even direct accusations in aesthetical disabling start to arise.
By that accusers have forgotten the fact that many forms of contemporary art have determined the new forms of art-therapy; the fact that contemporary artists sometimes have to distress for recipient to be healthy; and finally that many art works resisting any art historian neutralization have “bothered” recipients for centuries.
The action “Sanatorium of arts” will pool the efforts of those artists who offers:
* Health-improving exercises focused on overcoming of aesthetical illnesses
* Original training simulators and other latest arthopaedics products
* Art works with catharsis characteristics in the department of shock art-therapy
* Conceptual practices that imply correction of aesthetical delusions
The museum night in the State Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val will be accompanied by the music program in front of the building, video-show for which the front of the building will serve as a screen and meetings with the well-known artists in the conference hall.
The objects will be exhibited till 30 May.
