From 1928-1930 taught at the All-Russia Art and Technology Workshops, and between 1934-1946 and 1957-1963 – at the Surikov State Art Institute in Moscow. People’s Artist of the USSR, Full Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR, Vice-President of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1962-1966), the Corresponding Member of the GDR Academy of Arts, Laureate of the Lenin Award and Hero of Socialist Labour. During the mid 1920s, A. Deineka was influenced by German expressionism and worked on the creation of dynamic monumental compositions. His work is characterised by the graphic clarity in his drawings and the constructive composition of form. The artist strove to create a monumental style which was capable of representing the heroic pathos of the era. He viewed the heroism of the day mostly through the rapid industrial growth in the country. In addition, he was interested in the image of his contemporaries, who he considered were well balanced and developed individuals and one of the reasons for his attraction to sporting themes. A.A. Deineka dreamt "of decorating architecture with colour to make it brighter, of painting frescoes or producing a series of mosaics so that they would become chronicles of our time". The artist partially achieved his dream through works such as the panel for the Soviet pavilion at the World Exhibition in Paris (1937), the mosaics at Mayakovskaya metro station in Moscow (1938) and the frieze at the Moscow State University building on Leninskye Gory.
