In the left lower corner of the icon is the red sealing wax seal of the Church of the Assumption, Moscow Kremlin. The icon has a rarely encountered form extended along the horizontal. The Saviour Emmanuel (Hebrew for «God is with us») is a depiction of the youthful Christ with archangels, which is related to the symbols of the Eucharist. Similar compositions were placed in altars. On the fields, in places where the levkas has been lost, we see incisions in the wood which were made to firmly bind the primer and the foundation.
