Still-life. Morning

The painting is sort of in-between still-life and landscape. Golden fruit, shining with rainbow colours, seem to leap from the pattern on the tray. The vase in the centre directs the eye upwards, where the window shows an urban landscape, with houses like blue crystals. The solemn pyramidal composition is built on the principle of iconic space: from the earthly to the heavenly, from the gold of earth fruit to intangible blue expanses. The table is like an altar; the crystal vase, like a sacred vessel; the blue colour, like a symbol of spiritual light, which reveals the hidden meaning of the real world. The light dissolves the objects' shells and makes them glow from inside. The viewer becomes a witness of a transformation of the everyday world, which impregnates the picture with meaning to elevate it beyond the format of a traditional still-life.
