This retrospective show will be the most complete presentation of Serebryakova’s works over 30 years. The emphasis in the exhibition is made on the most fruitful period in the artist’s life — her Russian period. A prominent place is given to Serebryakova’ portraiture, her most preferred genre, and also to landscapes. In addition, the exhibit will feature sketches for the murals of the Kazansky Railway Station in Moscow and a series of paintings revealing the behind-the-curtain world of the Mariinsky Theater.

Works of the Paris period will be contributed by French collections; those pieces will be displayed in Russia for the first time. Moreover, also for the first time, Moscow patrons will be able to see decorative panels of the Brouwer Villa that for a long time have been considered to have been lost during World War II.

The exhibition will include the best works from the following collections: the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, the Benoit Family Museum in Peterhof, the A.S.Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts (Moscow), the Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum, the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus (Minsk), Zinaida Serebryakova Foundation (Fondation Serebriakoff) (Paris) and private collections from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Paris and London.
