This painting can be called one of the best works of Socialist Realism. It has a harmonious combination of high artistic quality and a life-affirming content. The artist creates the composition in such a way that space changes its form. The flying hydroplane “changes the impression of the environment.” The vector of its movement visually brings the horizon closer. The adolescents in the foreground are following the maneuvers of the plane attentively and “with knowledge of the matter” and are discussing the trajectory of its flight in a juvenile manner. The content of the work makes it not so much a genre scene as a metaphor of a great future towards which the characters turn their focus and in which the viewer too involuntarily wants to believe.
