The Atlas is a laboratory and a process, therefore space does not and cannot have a final form. The Atlas is an attempt to map chaos. The logical nodes of the journey are the works of N. Goncharova, M. Larionov, T. Novikov, G. Chervinsky, E. Mitta, M. Romadin, F. Leger, K. Malevich, and V. Mamyshev-Monroe, and songs by V. Tsoi and others. The project consultants are leading contemporary artists (Vitaly Komar, Leonid Sokov, Alexander Kosolapov, Anton Vidokle, Joseph Kosuth, Hermann Nitsch, Sergey Bugaev-Africa, Georgy Guryanov, Oleg Kotelnikov, Dmitry Gutov) and philosophers (B. Groys, E. Andreyeva, V. Paperny, B. Yangfeldt, E. Arenzon), as well as the staff of Mayakovsky State Museum, the State Archive of Literature and Art, and the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Creators of the project:
Nikolay Molok and Aleksandr Shein
The “VMayakovsky” is a view of history through the lens of the present. In front of the viewers actors transform into the characters of the film (Vladimir Mayakovsky, the poet; women who were loved by him and who left him; the friends who admired him and abandoned him; the ruthless “knights of the revolution” who proclaimed him as their standard); they enable the audience to enter “into” Mayakovsky to experience his drama in love, and in creative process, and his personal drama as if it was their own.
